FAQs

Some frequently asked questions that we receive.

Our main aim is to support young people experiencing mental health issues and those from low-income households.  Saying this, if you feel like you could benefit from being creative but don’t necessarily fall into one these categories, we would still love to provide some materials where possible.

We don’t currently accept referrals from individuals under 12 years of age. Most children in Shetland can access a wealth of materials through their school network and we are more than happy to signpost to local services where appropriate. Our aim is to provide materials to young people who are no longer in school. Young people are classed as those aged 16-35.

Complete the simple referral form on our website.  If you have difficulty completing forms online, please give us a ring and we’d be happy to take your details over the phone.

Yes!  There are three standard creativity packs available – art, music, and creative writing.  Choose which category you would prefer to receive (if you have a preference) and we’ll give you a selection of brand-new materials.  We also have a library of second-hand items available and will aim to provide you with something you’re really interested in.  If you have no preference and just want to give something new a try, we’ll put together a selection of items for you.

Nope – creative materials are free to people in need and always will be.

Yes.  We can deliver to individual’s homes, or central locations such as community groups where appropriate.

Ideally please support them to complete the referral form themselves.  If this isn’t possible then please give us a call or email, with that person’s permission.

Of course!  We are so grateful for any donations, and we accept any good-quality second-hand donations of creative materials eg craft kits, wool, paint, canvasses, music books, etc.  Please get in touch if you have any materials to donate.

We also accept financial donations through PayPal.

There has been significant interest in this, so it might be something we consider in the future.  In the meantime, we are delighted to signpost to local groups and artists running their own workshops.

All referrals are handled by our Project Manager alone, and personal information will never be shared without permission.  We will ask all recipients if they are happy to be contacted in the future for feedback purposes, and this is entirely optional.  We will collect some data to use for future funding applications and to help shape the future of the project (eg area of Shetland, age range, etc.) however all data collected will be anonymised and individuals have the choice to opt out.  You can view our GDPR policy here.

If you have any other questions or would like any further information, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
